About

A bit about me ...

and my accomplishments

My artwork refers to a sense of time and place. Each inanimate object speaks of a journey, encounter or significant memory. The fragments and traces are relocated from their place of discovery and established within a new personal sanctuary, where mark making enlivens and quickens with an illuminating gaze and the focus of my attention. These paintings and drawings of the natural world provide an environment in which to fix a ‘sacred presence’ while arresting the process of neglect and decay.

My travels have taken me to Siberia, Canada, Vietnam and Indonesia, Belize, Chile, Dominica and Ethiopia, as well as the USA and throughout Europe. Residencies at Harewood House, Highclere Castle and an ecology centre in the Italian Dolomites, and my own studio have all allowed time and space to reflect upon these experiences, make paintings that respond to my sense of wonder at it all, and hopefully highlight the need to protect the many diverse and threatened habitats.
